WHY TROCHUS?

Abalones and Trochus are high value invertebrate species which are sought after their meat and shells. Both species have been subjected to over exploitation in wild. Though sluggish and unappealing to tourists, they play important roles as grazers in reefs and rocky shore ecosystems. By grazing on algae, they help prevent algal overgrowth which could smother coral colonies. They also convert nutrients into its available forms for other reef dwellers.
